Hazardous Material Processing Solutions

SSI’s Hazardous Material Processing Solutions are designed to safely manage the shredding of hazardous materials while controlling air pressure and preventing the release of harmful particles or fumes. The Airlock System isolates the shredding area, ensuring a secure environment during loading and unloading. With powerful Hydraulic Power Units and Quad® Shredders featuring Ram Hoppers, these systems provide consistent throughput and reduce waste to a uniform size, enabling safe and efficient transportation and disposal of hazardous materials.

Hazardous Waste Solutions

SSI has extensive experience in the supply of purpose engineered reduction, fuel blending and destruction systems for the hazardous and medical waste processing industries. Here are some typical system solutions:

The Tower – Full Drum Processing Systems

SSI Dual-shear® technology has been employed to process full drums and extract liquid contents from solids and metals, then repackage or contain certain materials depending on the application and customer need. These systems can include class 1, Div 1&2 environments, oxygen starved processing chambers, explosion proof motors and controls, double airlock systems, fire detection and suppression, deflagration vents and more. They are typically designed to meet specific customer requirements.

Radioactive Waste

PRI-MAX®, Dual-Shear® and Quad® technologies can be used to process radioactive soils and other wastes in remediation systems. Depending on customer need, pressurized equipment, gas containment and other options are available.

Hospital Waste

Dual-Shear® and Quad® technologies can be used to process and destroy joints, fittings, tools, contaminated material and other hospital waste either before or after a waste sterilization system.

Medical Waste

Dual-Shear® and Quad® technologies can be used to process and destroy red bag waste, sharps and sharp containers, boxed waste, pharmaceuticals and other items either before or after a waste sterilization system.

Paints / Sludges / Aerosols
